5. Mobile Applications
Silicon Wireless develops mobile applications for configuring, monitoring and managing compatible Silicon Wireless hardware products, including RFID readers, biometric attendance devices, face-recognition systems, access-control systems, GPS devices, sensors and IoT equipment.
Depending on the application and features selected by the user, an application may access:
- USB or USB-OTG connected devices.
- Bluetooth or network connectivity where required by a supported product.
- Local storage for user-requested imports, exports and diagnostic logs.
- Camera or other device features only where required by a specific application.
Unless a particular application or customer deployment clearly states otherwise, Silicon Wireless mobile applications do not transmit personal information to Silicon Wireless servers. Device configuration data, attendance records, RFID information, biometric templates and exported logs remain under the control of the customer and are processed only to perform operations requested by the user.
SWS Settings Manager
SWS Settings Manager is intended for authorised technicians, administrators and customers who configure compatible Silicon Wireless RFID and biometric devices. The application may communicate with devices through USB OTG and may read or write device configuration, download attendance records, upload or download RFID or biometric templates, and save user-requested export files or diagnostic logs locally on the user's device.
SWS Settings Manager does not require a user account and does not contain third-party advertising. Unless a user intentionally configures a compatible device to communicate with a server, the application does not independently upload personal information to Silicon Wireless.
6. Biometric and Attendance Information
Certain Silicon Wireless products can be used by organisations to process biometric templates, attendance records or access-control information. In those deployments, the customer organisation normally determines why and how such information is processed and acts as the responsible entity.
Silicon Wireless processes such information only where necessary to provide the product, integration, hosting or technical support requested by the customer, subject to applicable agreements and law.
7. Cloud and Customer-Hosted Services
Some products may connect to customer-owned servers, third-party platforms or Silicon Wireless-hosted services. The information processed depends on the selected solution, customer configuration and applicable agreement.
Customers are responsible for configuring their deployments lawfully and for informing their employees, visitors or end users about the processing carried out through those deployments.
8. Sharing and Disclosure
Silicon Wireless does not sell personal information. We may disclose information only:
- With the customer's or user's instruction or consent.
- To service providers assisting with hosting, communications, logistics, payment, accounting or technical support.
- Where required by law, court order or a competent authority.
- To protect the security, rights or property of Silicon Wireless, our customers or others.
- As part of a lawful merger, acquisition or business restructuring.
9. Data Retention
We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including support, warranty, contractual, accounting, tax, security, dispute-resolution and legal requirements.
Files saved locally by a mobile or desktop application remain on the user's device or chosen storage location until the user or administrator deletes them.
10. Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, alteration or disclosure. However, no internet transmission, electronic storage system or security measure can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
11. International Processing
Where services, hosting providers, customers or integrations operate in different countries, information may be processed outside the country in which it originated. We take reasonable steps to ensure that such processing is subject to appropriate safeguards and applicable law.
